The Reggio Emilia Atelier

The atelier in the Reggio Emilia approach is a space that values and
nurtures children's creativity, imagination, and self-expression. Through
artistic activities in the atelier, children develop their artistic skills, critical
thinking, problem-solving abilities, and a deep appreciation for the arts.
The term "atelier" is derived from the Italian word for "workshop" or "studio."

Our Atelier

Our atelier has a wide range of art materials and resources, including
paints, brushes, clay, paper, fabrics, natural materials, and found objects.
Children are free to explore the materials and engage in self-directed
artistic activities and they are encouraged to manipulate, transform, and
combine materials in unique and personal ways. All projects focus on the

journey of creating, rather than the final outcome. Children work individually
or in small groups, sharing ideas, techniques, and inspiration and they
discuss their work, and engage in dialogue with peers and teachers.
